Gwangju and Jeonnam's guardian mountain (鎭山) and the central mountain range of the Honam Mountains, it was designated as the 21st national park in Korea in March 2013. The total area is 75.425㎢. Mudeungsan, with an elevation of 1,187m, has the meaning of 'an incomparably high and large mountain' or 'a noble mountain whose grade cannot be measured.' Centered around Cheonwangbong, the highest peak, vertical jointed rocks such as Seoseokdae, Ibseokdae, and Gwangseokdae soar up like a stone fence, creating a magnificent spectacle. It boasts distinct ecological landscapes throughout the four seasons, including azaleas in spring, daylilies in summer, autumn foliage and reeds in autumn, and snow scenery in winter, and a superb ecosystem where endangered wild animals such as otters, flying squirrels, and Akebia quinata orchid inhabit.

I got a stamp at the Jeungshim trail center.
The public parking lot is spacious and nice. The fee is 6400 won.
When I came down, I found that private parking lots were cheaper.
I filled my stomach with mandu guk (dumpling soup) before starting the hike, so now it's time to start hiking.
We decided to go up the Jungmeorijae course and come down to Jungbong.

Children enjoy hiking as well.
I visited the Obang Choi Hong-jong Pastor Memorial Hall the day before, and it's surprising to find a chapel here.
There are many places to rest near the Dangsan tree.
I love the natural feel of the mountain.

There is a marker on the way from the observatory to the summit.
Authentication at the Seoseokdae marker.
I went up to Inwangbong.
Inwangbong is made of a deck, and one side is blocked by a military base.

Now, we descend towards Jungbong.

To get to Jungbong, I have to climb again.

The trail to Jungbong is more impressive.
I finish the hike with kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup) after descending.
Tranggle hiking record
Although I haven't hiked much, this mountain has a unique charm that I haven't felt in other mountains.
The rocks made of columnar joints are so attractive that I want to visit again in other seasons.
