Mount Deogyusan, located in the heart of the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range, was designated as the 10th National Park in 1975. Administratively, it spans four counties, including Muju-gun and Jangsu-gun in North Jeolla Province, Geochang-gun and Hamyang-gun in South Gyeongsang Province, encompassing both the Yeongnam and Honam regions. A total area of 229.43㎢ has been designated as the park area. Located in the heart of the Baekdudaegan Mountain Range, Deogyusan National Park is surrounded by Gayasan Mountain to the east, Naejangsan Mountain to the west, Jirisan Mountain to the south, and Gyeryongsan Mountain and Seoraksan Mountain to the north. Deogyusan is the fourth highest mountain in South Korea (Hwangjeokbong Peak, 1,614m), and it also holds a high value for the preservation of the alpine ecosystem. It is also the source of the Geum River flowing north and the Nakdong River flowing east.

There is a visitor center on the way up to Gucheondong Valley.

There were no hikers because of a heavy snowfall warning, so the stamps were left unattended, even though they were soaked in the snow...

Fortunately, I was able to remove the water from the stamps and get them stamped successfully.

I was lucky enough to ride the cable car alone on a weekday because of the good timing.

The plan was to go up by cable car

Seolcheonbong - Hwangjeokbong - Baekryeon Temple - Gucheon Waterfall - Gucheondong District course

I was going to descend, but the entire course was closed due to heavy snowfall.

So, I just went to Hwangjeokbong Peak.

It's a shame I couldn't descend the mountain.

But it was nice to be able to easily get to the top using the cable car.

The path to Hwangjeokbong Peak is a beautiful landscape with a snow tunnel.

I understood why you should go to Deogyusan only in winter.

I recommend Deogyusan where you can feel the beauty of the snow.
